It was announced by Pierre Lebrun that the Toronto Maple Leafs have sent forward Par Lindholm to the Winnipeg Jets in exchange for forward Nicolas Petan.
Lindholm was in his first year in the NHL and is a decent depth forward that contributed on the penalty kill and the defensive side of the puck. He had 1 goal and 12 points in 61 games this season.
Nicolas Petan, a former 2nd round pick of the Jets, simply ran out of time in Winnipeg. At 23 years old he still has some potential left, but in order to reach that potential it was clear that he needed a change of scenery.
At just 5’9″ and 179lbs, he isn’t the power forward that Leafs fans were hoping for, but he produced 15 goals and 52 points in 52 games for the AHLs Manitoba Moose last season, and if he can continue to develop that offensive game this could look like a steal for the Leafs further down the road.
Petan has played in a total of 108 NHL games and has 5 goals and 23 points to show for it. In 13 NHL games this season he’s produced 2 assists. Let’s hope this change of scenery does him some good.
Nic Petan has 52 points in 52 AHL games, (‘95 birth year).
Exact same AHL PGG as Andreas Johnsson last year (54P in 54GP), that Johnsson produced at the same age (‘94 birth year).
