On Sunday afternoon the Toronto Maple Leafs announced they had put four players on waivers.
The #leafs have placed Andrew Campbell, Byron Froese, Colin Greening and Brooks Laich on waivers.

While three of these players might not have been a total surprise, Brooks Laich was a shocker to many.
The 33 year old acquired last year, in the trade for Dan Winnik, was thought to be the type of player that Coach Mike Babcock would rely on heavily, in order to help lead the young Leafs squad thru what should be considered a roller coaster of an upcoming season.
The Leafs might be hoping that another club takes a chance on Laich which would save the team 4.5 million dollars against the Cap or if clearing waivers, and assigned to the NHL $925,000.
The Leafs could start the season with 6 NHL rookies. This number that was mentioned early in the summer by some high ranking TSN insiders, and quickly discredited by bloggers. Many of the highly knowledgeable basement writers (I write on the main floor), suggesting that TSN had no idea what they were talking about. Guess we will find out later today.
This information comes on the heels of the Leafs PR release that notified fans of the roster being trimmed to 29 earlier this weekend.

These moves didn’t shock anybody and with 25 players left in Camp, the last few cuts will confirm exactly who we are cheering for in the Blue and White for the 2016-17 NHL Season.
