It’s been a while since I have had a desire to talk hockey, let alone even write about hockey.
Selling, and then finding a home in the ridiculously hot (at the time) GTA market took up a vast majority of my brain power to the point, and with that much time put into locating a property, I didnt even want to golf this summer. Those who know me, realize that is a major part of my life.
After that was settled, almost settled, it was time to head out on vacation. So we packed up the entire house into a crate, then hit the road for 3 weeks. No return address, just the open highway and the East Coast of Canada. Again, zero interest in hockey.
I knew the website was in great hands as I left with Steve, Steven, Peter and Jude all ensuring things would work smoothly even in the dog days of Summer, or was it Fall….
Lots of hiccups along the way in the trip, from pet health to vehicle issues, to closing concerns on the property, but that did not deter us from enjoying all of the beauties in Nova Scotia. A great vacation was had, as they usually are.
However, early one morning I received a message that one of my favourite hockey writers (definitely not a blogger) was going to move on from this website.
A partner and a friend, Jude had decided that a different path and vision was in his future so he was going say goodbye to Leafs Hub.
I put Jude in a very rare class of passionate and intelligent writers, one that readers can easily get involved in their articles and feel the emotion that Jude would put into each piece.
I was fortunate to share many great times with Jude, especially in London at the Leafs Rookie Tournament, where we looked at each other wondering how we got to this point in life. How regular members of the MSM were inviting two goons out for beers after the game to talk about life, and hockey. A small site that we set out to build in this market place was actually making inroads into a rare part of the world.
Having said all of that, I do understand when its time to leave something. We all wish Jude the best from the family here at Leafs Hub, and know he will go onto create even more gems for the internet to enjoy.
Where does that leave us? Simply, I do not know.
I do know that I enjoy hosting this website.
I enjoy providing Marlies/Leafs content to those fans who see the game in a similar manner, but also to fans who would love to debate my stance or vision on how the game is played. If we all agreed, it would become a boring world but arguing with class is something that we also hope to attain at our website.
With all of that said, I have no idea where we are heading, or if we are heading into the future, here at Leafs Hub.
There are no better fans than those that support and have supported the Blue and White over the years. Let me know what you think we should do to keep this place open (if that is what you want) or should we just put up a closed sign and use our time for something more meaningful in life? (pfffft….it would just mean more Netflix time, who am I kidding?)
Thanks again to Jude for all that he poured into this website, and best of luck to him on his new path. One day our paths may cross again.
Thanks to Steve for keeping this place running, you are the BEST and also to our young go-to guy Peter who will inherit this mess one day.
And thanks to all of you for taking this journey with us !!
