With only two prospects outside the Marlies still in action, the reports will focus on them, with only season statistical information listed for those who have been knocked out of, or did not make the playoffs.

While the majority of the prospects attention has been centered on the puzzle master Gauthier, forgotten by the mainstream Toronto media is Dakota Joshua and his Sioux Falls Stampede team who have trampled two playoffs opponents, punching their ticket to the Clark Cup final. After kicking the first place Sioux City Musketeers out in round 1, the Stampede had to square off against second place finisher, the Tri-City Storm in the Western Conference final. Tri-City took the first game 4-2 in a game that saw Leafs hopeful Dakota Joshua sidelined. After that initial setback, the Stampede even the series with a game two 3-2 victory and then closed the best of 5 out in four games with 4-3 and 7-3 wins in games 3 and 4. Joshua had a strong showing in the series picking up 5 assists in three games and was a +6. All of Joshua’s assists were primary assists as well. He now has 11 points in 8 games and is sporting a +9 for good measure.

Sioux Falls now awaits the winner of the Eastern Conference battle going on between Dubuque and Muskegon, which is knotted up at two each.

Ho-hum, another series, another four game sweep for Frédérik Gauthier and the Rimouski Océanic. Just like the regular season series, when Rimouski won all 4 four meetings as well, Rimouski dusted the Val-d’Or Foreurs rather easily, outscoring them 17-5, including shutouts in games two and four. Gauthier picked up two assists in the series, bringing his playoff total to a point per game average and was a beast in the face off circle winning 58.6% of his draws. Considering he takes the lions share of his teams face offs, averaging 30 per game, his success, leading to puck possession, gives his team a huge advantage, especially on special teams.

Rimouski’s win, coupled with Quebec’s own sweep of the Moncton Wildcats, gives the Océanic an automatic berth into the Memorial Cup. As the Remparts are the host team this year, even a loss in the President Cup final means Rimouski will be the Quebec league representative in the four team tournament which begins May 21st.

Quebec has a strong team and have swept their last two series after going the full seven in their opening round tussle with Cape Breton. They made the big mid-season trade with Halifax to acquire goalie Zach Fucale knowing they are the host team and wanting to have a strong chance of winning the Cup on home ice. During the regular the two teams faced each other eight times, with Rimouski coming out ahead 5-2-1. The final begins on Tuesday.
