On Monday afternoon, a simple tweet from Player Agent, Dan Milstein said it all. The Alexey Marchenko era in Toronto was over.
Alexey Marchenko of the Toronto Maple Leafs was put on NHL waivers today. Media statement tomorrow at 1pm EST.

The 25 year old Marchenko was picked up on waivers from the Detroit Red Wings back on February 4th, 2017. The former 7th round pick played 25 games for the Maple Leafs, he scored 1 goal and had 1 assist during his tenure wearing the Blue and White.
The Maple Leafs were pressed up against the Contact Maximum after announcing the signing of Martins Dzierkals to a one-year AHL deal where he will suit up for the Toronto Marlies this season.

The 20 year old Dzierkals, is a smooth and offensively gifted forward that sees the ice very well. While his primary ability is to move the puck to open teammates, he is also able to pull the trigger and can score when Plan A isn’t available.
Will be exciting to see this new addition to the Marlies squad this year at the Ricoh Coliseum, and do not be surprised to see another contract moved to create more space in the near future.
More as it develops in Leafs Land.
