First off, a BIG round of props to UK for setting this whole thing up (again). This never would have happened without him. As they say…if you build it…they will come. Hub Summits seem to get bigger and bigger every few months. More and more folks jumping in…and it’s great to see.
Guru and I arrived at The Brazen Head around 3pm to find Lurker already on his 5th beer. As we sat down and ordered a round, more and more people started showing up. Apparently the bar had lost our reservation but Lurker set them straight and got us a few tables strung together….so all was well. Soon enough, the place was packed and we had around 18 us sharing laughs with pitchers of beer flowing from one end of the tables to the other. Time slipped away from us and soon enough it was 5pm so we gathered our wits and made our way down to the Ricoh.

Admittedly, I’ve never been in a box suite for any type of event before…so this was a big event for me. It’s interesting, because for Suites we go up a separate staircase (or private elevator)…completely segregated from the common fans. It felt very exclusive. As we found our suite, UK ordered barrel of cold ice and beers (and a few cokes for myself…thx UK)….as well as a few pizzas….and a bunch of hot dogs. The box was rocking as Clune got into a tussle and just started wailing on the opposing player (and eventually got tossed from the game).

I had forgotten my camera in the suv, so I made my way downstairs and outside to fetch it. As I was returning and entered the elevator to go upstairs…out walks Lou and walks right by me. Caught me by surprise….and I gotta say that man just oozes class..and he’s got a certain swagger. It was like being in the presence of royalty. I was like….WOW….that was LOU!!
Upon returning to the suite I find Kate from TSN whooping it up with the boys. This day is just getting better and better. I must say, Kate is a hottie and she’s got an AWESOME personality….just one of the guys. I mean, O’Dog and Hayes are 2 suites over from us, yet Kate takes it upon herself to hop on over to our suite and hang with us for a good 15 mins and pose for pics and share a few laughs. Fantastic lady!! I think we can say, she’s now a friend of the show.

As it turns out, DH and Dave won Leaf tickets earlier in the day through some Twitter thing….so they had to depart during the 3rd period to take a cab over to the ACC and catch the Leaf game. Too bad, cuz I honestly think they would have had a better time had they stuck around with us hounds….cuz we proceeded to rip it up after the game at The Craft Brasserie over in Liberty Village.
As we made our way over to The Craft….the story finally comes out that Jude had been eluding to for months (since the last Marlies Summit). Guru points out the tree where Jude hid his stash. Jude buddy…you are the bees knees!!
Once at The Craft….the booze started flowing once again. Lurker was getting pretty hammered, I must say. Lurk, I have a picture you might laugh at….I won’t post it here, but I will throw it out to email-hub.
Hubbers chilling’ at The Craft Brasserie
Gotta say….the scenery in downtown Toronto is VERY attractive. As Otis turned to me in the elevator earlier on….it’s like waking up in Baskin Robbins (Oh, you had me in tears in laughter there for a moment, brother).
As time went on, we basically ended up closing down the bar. Guru kept ordering shots….and trying to convince us to hit the strip clubs. Unfortunately, we were running out of gas as it was already close to 2am. So, we dropped Otis off at his hotel, went up to Ingy’s room for a couple rockets….after which I dropped Guru off at his crib…and made my way home around 4:30am.
For anyone who missed out on last night….you missed a helluva evening!! Great times…great people…great vibe….great laughs!! But then, that’s what The Hub was built on. As they say…Hub Is Life.
Had a blast last night, fellas (and lady). Can’t wait to hook up again in July for the Summer Summit. If it’s one thing I’ve learned….is that Hubbers do it up right!!
