You have waited a long time, but it is here. The 2019-20 NHL Season begins tonight !!
Put contracts out of your mind. Put the Captaincy behind us, as it will be announced today or this evening.
This SHOULD be a season of massive highs and hopefully very few lows, however this is why they play the games. Nothing can be predicted via a spreadsheet. Too many oddities happen within the NHL each and every year.
So. Where do we think the Leafs finish up?
Here is what I do know, one shift at a time, one game at a time. Do not cheat and start looking forward or passed an opponent, that is dangerous.
It starts tonight!
We've got an opening night Battle of Ontario on @ScotiaHockey Game Day.

On paper the Ottawa Senators are barely an AHL affiliate. This is a trap game.
They are hungry, they can be nasty and without question can change a season with one hit.
Leafs will have to capitalize on the powerplay opportunities they are afforded this season. Putting Auston Matthews and Mitch Marner on opposite sides of the ice this year is a great first step. Now, new Assistant Coach Paul MacFarland needs to show the ability to not only adapt but to be preactive versus reactive in what set up he decides to roll out.
Many many factors to digest but to me the powerplay is where the Leafs must be in the Top 5 of the NHL to slow opposition teams down (like the Sens) from running around at our beloved Leafs.
This looks like the lineup the Leafs will trot out. A ton of new faces in the lineup compared to last season. Is this a better team? Can it keep the pucks out of the net?

Powerplay is massively important, but this Blue and White roster goes only as far as Frederik Andersen can take it. A ton of pressure. Can he take his game to the next level?
Alright boys and girls……Game Day !
GO LEAFS GO !!!!!
