WILD (12-8-4) at MAPLE LEAFS (10-9-5)
7:30 pm (SN)
After a tough shootout loss to the hated Vancouver Canucks, the Toronto Maple Leafs enjoyed a solid 3 day break after returning to the Eastern Time Zone.
Wednesday evening the beloved blue and white will be hosts to the Minnesota Wild at 7:30pm at the Air Canada Centre.
Continued concern from all corners of the non-stop worrying Toronto fan base will again be pushed to its limits as young William Nylander has been DEMOTED to the 4th line, never to see any credible playing time again !!!
Alright, most of you will understand that my sarcasm levels are off the charts. In my opinion, the reason that Nylander is playing 4th Centre is because he would prefer to play the middle of the ice moving forward in his career. If you make such a request, you might have to just bide your time, learn the role and be ready if you are asked to play higher in the lineup.
Nylander will continue to see power play time on the (first or second unit) and if the Leafs have a lack of offence show up on a regular basis he will be moved back to the Matthews line.
Sea Biscuit better be ready. Freddy Andersen is the #1 goalie of this team. We all knew that (except those who got really anxious when he was a touch rusty after his injury) the day he was signed by Lou Lam and the management crew.
With no true NHL-ready backup goalie on the roster (currently it is Antoine Bibeau), Andersen will see a massive chunk of ice time and starts for our hometown Leafs. From my perspective it would appear that he plays better with increased minutes and gets on a roll with confidence and seeing the puck.
We will be fine here.
Should be interesting to see what transpires this evening down at the ACC with the Leafs, their players and their fans. A fan base that already has a history of getting way too high, followed by extreme levels of low could really use a win. Is it the end of the world if they lose? No guy, but getting on a roll with victories would be a huge factor in determine whether the Leafs are indeed playoffs worthy or just a group that is overachieving early.
It is Game-Time Kids !!!
