Well sir, this is a statement game in my mind.
That albatross egg that the beloved Blue and White laid on Monday better be a f’in apparition.
Dallas Stars (6-5-0) come into Toronto to face the Maple Leafs (8-4-0) with something to prove. Many hockey gurus picked the Stars to make some noise this season if they could get the right goaltending. Their top line is going to be an absolute handful tonite.
Do the damage against the other three.
The Leafs, without Auston Matthews, need to step up and answer for that LOUSY effort in the previous game.
Does it happen to all good teams? Yes. Does it happen in short stretches? Yes.
But this is NOT the time to get into one of those little funks if you are the Maple Leafs. This is the time for the other stars of the Blue and White to start showing what they can provide to this team. This cannot be done all by Frederik Andersen.
John Tavares, time to lead.
Put a line on his back. Put one on Mitch Marner.
This appears to be the lines for tonite.
The bottom pairing being Travis Dermott and Justin Holl who gets a taste of NHL hockey this year.

In other news….the rumor (yes I prefer American spelling) mill is churning right now. The Leafs and Canes have been linked when it comes to trade talk and Mike Augello et al are stoking the fire.
.@sportingnewsca Scout Watch: 15 scouts at the #Leafs – Stars game, including Canes AGM Rick Dudley (for the fourth time in two weeks) and two other Carolina scouts, two from the Hawks as well. Where there is smoke….. #TMLTalk

In even MORE news. Leafs Goalie Prospect Ian Scott was named WHL Goalie of the Month for the WHL. Scott was selected in the 4th round (#110) of the 2017 NHL Entry Draft by the Maple Leafs.
