Maple Leafs (19-22-9) at Senators (23-23-6)
7pm EST – CBC, TVAS, SN, NHL.TV
Fresh off a shootout win against the New Jersey Devils on Thursday evening, the Maple Leafs look to
continue to frustrate Tank Nation make it 3 post All-Star game wins in a row tonight against their provincial rival, the Ottawa Senators.
To the surprise of nobody, James Reimer (10-8-6) will get the start in goal for the Leafs. On the other side of the rink, Craig Anderson (20-17-4) draws in, looking to try to get the Senators back on track after an embarrassing 7-2 loss to Connor McDavid and the Edmonton Oilers on Thursday night.
The Sens are currently sitting 6 points out of a Wild Card spot in the East, a disappointing development for a team that many expected to contend for one of the top 3 playoff spots in the Atlantic Division. In fact, all 7 Canadian teams are currently sitting outside the playoff picture, 4 of which (Edmonton, Winnipeg, Toronto, Calgary) are tied for 30th in points (47) with Columbus and Buffalo.
With Rich Clune back with the Toronto Marlies, Brad Boyes draws back into the lineup tonight on the 4th line alongside Byron Froese and Peter Holland. Babcock did not sound very pleased that Clune was demoted, stating that it was a “business” decision, and that Clune “played really good.” Sounds like Lou is calling the shots on this one.
Whether you’re cheering for wins or losses right now, Hockey Night in Canada on Saturday night against the Senators is always a fun game.
