MAPLE LEAFS (16-20-7)
7:00pm (TSN 4)
I ain’t gonna lie, but I am ready to see a win. The leafs have lost their last 5 games and have fallen back down to earth in the standings. Losing the likes of James van Riemsdyk, 4 games ago, to a broken foot(out 6-8 weeks) did not help the winning cause but sure helped the tank. They have only registered 4 goals in their last 4 games and are looking to James Reimer to possibly spark this team into a win. James Reimer is holding onto a 0.934 sv%, good enough for 2nd best in the league.
The leafs are coming off of a tough loss to Boston allowing Brad Marchand an excellent scoring chance with only 47 seconds left in regulation. It was tough goal to swallow, but when you get outplayed by your opponent, do you really deserve to win? With Montreal dropping down the standings like a skydiver sans a parachute, Boston now has the opportunity to make a strong push and take 1st in the Atlantic. Boston is only 6 points out of 1st in the Atlantic and have a better g-diff than those above them in the standings.
The Philadelphia Flyers are 6-3-1 in their last 10 and won their last game against Detroit 2-1 via shoot out. Honorable mention goes to goalie Micheal Neurvirth who has a 0.936 sv%, the one goalie with a better sv% than James Reimer. This is the first meeting between the Flyers and Leafs this season. Philadelphia looks to grab the last wild card spot from Montreal with a win over the Leafs, a Canadiens regulation loss to Boston and the New Jersey Devils getting one point at the most tonight vs Calgary Flames. With all that said, maybe another Leafs loss isn’t so bad. Montreal could be out of a playoff spot by nights end. <—LIKES THIS VERY MUCH
Heavily depending on James Reimer having a great game and this mediocre offence scoring some goals, without their best finisher, the Maple Leafs could win tonight. Hopefully Leo Komorov can regain his scoring touch and Nazem Kadri can continue doing all the right things(As per Babs and Lou). Tyler Bozak is still impressing me after finally being fitted into the proper roles. Interestingly enough Gardiner has been making less mistakes or maybe he is just more fortunate they have not turned into goals like in season’s past. A little bit more from the PP could help as well. Leafs are 0-14 on the PP in the past 4 games.
Also, never forget that the TSN 1050 Radio Twitter account is not a reliable trade source.
