Islanders (19-12-5) at Maple Leafs (13-14-7)
Good evening Leafs nation! I hope everyone is enjoying the holidays and the World Juniors (Close call today).
Tonight the Leafs take on the New York Islanders for the 2nd time in 3 days at the ACC. The leafs took the last meeting in New York by a final score of 3-1 with good performances from Bernier and Kadri. The Leafs will look to take advantage of an Isles team that has lost 4 of their last 5 games.
So far this season, these two teams have been somewhat surprising in their own regard. The isles find themselves in a playoff spot but not much cushion whereas the leafs find themselves ranked 27th in the overall standings but have showed promise while doing with… different roster ill say.
Players to watch
Nazem Kadri: Keep an eye out on Kadri tonight as he comes into his game with a 5 game point streak (1g, 6a). As we near the halfway point in the season, is this where we see Kadri’s production take off? We’ll find out!
Jonathan Bernier: Since coming back from his conditioning stint in the AHL, Jonathan Bernier seems to be slowly finding his game going 3-1-2 since returning. He’ll look to keep the good play going tonight with another good test.
I hope everyone enjoys the rest of the holidays and is safe while doing so!
Happy new year and Go Leafs/Canada Go!
