HURRICANES (28-23-10) @ MAPLE LEAFS (20-28-10)
7:30 pm (SNO)
News from the ACC today is that James van Riemsdyk is in a walking boot and out for the rest of the year. For fans of the scortched earth fantasy that were hopeful JVR would be dealt by the deadline, this will come as bad news. “If” he is not part of the future plan, it seems as though all of you scortched earthers out there will have to wait until the summer to hear of any trade news involving him. I would also like to take this moment to thank former Maple Leafs Viking Warrior, Roman Polak, for bringing it every night. The guy never took a shift off. WARRIOR.
Reports of a large man, resembling Luca Brasi, was seen entering Lou Lamoriello’s office yesterday morning.
Joffery Lupul is still MIA and not available to anyone in the media. I did see a picture of Stephane Robidas and now Joffery Lupul on the side of my chocolate milk this morning.
So far the season series is split between the Hurricanes and the Maple Leafs. The Leafs won the first meeting in the 5th round of the shootout with a Joffery Lupul signature shootout goal. The second meeting was decided in over time, with Jordan Staal ending a scoreless game at the 2:54 mark of the extra frame.
Jonathon Bernier is expected to protect the piped polygon this evening for our Toronto Maple Leafs. Bernier holds an untradable 6-15-3 record, an abysmal 0.895 SV% and an ungraceful 3.17 GAA **Wet Fart Noise**
Other injured players include, Milan Michalek (Who?), Tyler Bozak (Who Cares?), and Matt Hunwick (Who cares too?). All three of the aforementioned players skated before practice but will not play in this evenings game.
Leo Komarov will be serving the last game of his 3 game suspension after inadvertently hitting, New York Rangers Captain Ryan McDonagh, with a high elbow on February 18th.
Once again, it seems as if tonight’s defense will not have a player over the age of 25. Surprisingly they played very well under the expert tutelage of coach Mike Babcock.
Peter Holland has been great lately, tallying 1 goal and 2 assists in two games. Polarizing conversation/trade topic, Nazem Kadri, has collected 4 assists over the same span. Even with these two bright spots, the Maple Leafs have not won a game since February 13th when they gave the Vancouver Canucks a 5-2 spanking. I wouldn’t be surprised at all if the Maple Leafs come away with a win tonight, ending their 4 game losing streak.
You can’t lose them all.
Enjoy the game tonight, no matter what side of this fan base you are on.
