First of all I hate the Flames. Truthfully I hate every other team in the NHL, but Calgary you are up next.
The Flames (5-5-1) bring their mediocre show into the Scotiabank Arena to take on the Eastern Conference leading Toronto Maple Leafs (8-3-0).
Nothing really exciting about this one, except for the small fact that the Leafs will be without star centre Auston Matthews for the next 4 weeks MINIMUM.
The timeline was announced earlier this morning by Leafs PR, and to be quite honest I kinda figured it would be 6-8 weeks for a shoulder separation (my assumption).
So now its back onto the shoulders of John Tavares, Mitch Marner and Nazem Kadri. Marner is second on the Maple Leafs team with 15 points in 11 games played, Matthews sits at 16 points.
As an aside, Kadri plays in his 500th NHL hockey game this evening.
Congrats Nazem !
Frederik Andersen gets the start between the red pipes, and the rest of the lineup undergoes a slight shake up without #34 in the lineup.
#Leafs lines at morning skate (vs. Calgary tonight):
No extra forward present as of yet
— Kristen Shilton (@kristen_shilton) October 29, 2018
Coach Mike Babcock decided not to call up an extra forward from the Toronto Marlies saying “we got 12 guys here doing a job….no need to add anybody”. Of course.
Travis Dermott continues his rehabilitation from the flu. In his absence (and this pains me to say), Martin Marincin has appeared as a serviceable bottom pairing blueliner. Truthfully, I hope it continues tonite.
