We’re just 2 days away from the NHL trade deadline and things are quiet….. almost too quiet!!
I remember when things were this quiet in the days of Brian Burke, it made Leafs Nation feel as if something were brewing on the trade front.
These days it just makes me feel as if the Leafs are done dealing, and the team won’t get any more help than they have in the form of Jake Muzzin this year. Not that you’ll catch me complaining if Muzzin is their only addition, it’s just tough to not wonder if they have a really great opportunity this year and if they should go “all in” for a playoff run.
That’s the long game though. The short game is for the Leafs to secure a win tonight against Montreal. The two teams have met twice already this year, with Toronto taking both contests in overtime. While I do enjoy watching the Leafs beat the Habs it’s also great that both teams are good right now. Rivalries haven’t gotten heated in Toronto in a long time, mainly because the Leafs haven’t been great. To have teams like the Habs and Bruins playing at a high level at the same time as the Leafs helps to fuel those rivalries and makes the games more fun.
Price is expected to start for the Canadians, Andersen will be in net for the Leafs.
Here are your lines from practice yesterday. Nazem Kadri will sit again after being diagnosed with a concussion, Jake Gardiner is expected to be in the lineup tonight after missing practice yesterday in what’s being called a maintenance day.
