Today’s Game Day Report is brought to you by Murph
Tonight the Leafs (45-25-6) take on the Flyers (36-32-8), just by looking at the records
tonight should be a win for the Leafs, but that’s why they play the games.
In the last 10 games the Leafs have given up 40 goals (4/gm avg), where as the Flyers
have given up 32 goals in their last 10 (3.2/gm avg). The blue line depth has definitely
been tested and exploited since Gardiner and Dermott have went down to injuries. Now
that’s not to say that the forwards have been exceptional either as of recent.
Assuming that Andersen starts tonight, it would be nice to see him bounce back from his
last couple games. He is more than likely getting a bit run down since he has played 56
of 76 games so far this season, but still has a decent SV% at .917 and a GAA of 2.76.
However, over his last 5 games he has been less than spectacular only posting a SV%
over .895 once in that period (.929, which was an overtime loss to NYR).
Regardless of the poor performance of the last few games, the team in a whole did have
a few good games (despite the score) against the Preds and Rangers. Even though they
lost, you could tell a switch was starting to flip and they were skating and working for
But then, they played the Panthers on Monday. Which, even though they did win 7-5
(what?) yes, 7-5…. They dominated offensively but they had some terrible breakdowns
in the defensive end and Andersen had another bad night (although not entirely his
Dermott and Gardiner are both well on their way back to playing form again, and just in
time for a few games before playoffs AND it looks as if Rosen will get a chance to get
his foot in the door with the Leafs before playoff time as well!!
The #leafs plan to recall Calle Rosen after he plays another game for the Marlies next weekend, per Mike Babcock.

Also keep an eye out for some movement on Joseph Woll as there have been some
interesting developments there… We may see him in net for the Leafs before the season
Sources: G Joseph Woll, 20, will report to the Toronto Maple Leafs later this week. Woll signed his entry-level contract yesterday, burning the first year of his three-year deal. Players that burn the first year of their ELC are not AHL eligible. #Leafsforever @TLNdc

Lets hope the buds can flip that switch again tonight and see them play better in their
end and have a few less goals against.
GO LEAFS GO!!
