It is with great Maple Leafs pride that we announce the addition of Rick Vaive to our team at LeafsHub.com.
Not only is Vaive the first Leaf to score 50 goals, but his 54 in 1981-82 hasn’t been matched by any Leaf since. As impressive as his on ice accomplishments here in Toronto are, Rick has done it all off the ice as well. From building a championship ECHL team in South Carolina as coach and GM, to being a head coach in the both the AHL and OHL. Vaive also moved into an analyst role with LeafsTV, which he excelled in. Needless to say, we are thrilled to have Rick’s expertise and experience at the website.
On a personal note, over the past several months Rick has become a good friend. Our conversations on Toronto hockey are easily some of the most interesting I’ve been part of. Vaive has a tremendous understanding of not only the game of hockey, but today’s game. He is up on every aspect of the NHL and he’s as passionate about the Maple Leaf crest as anyone I’ve known. As thrilling as it is to work with Rick, a childhood hero, it’s the knowledge we’ll now be able to share his insights and evaluations with all of you that’s the real thrill. Vaive’s assessments are as sharp and accurate as they come in this business, as you’ll soon find out.
Details will be released on Rick’s role within the site shortly, and I can assure you it will be a regular, consistent contribution. We have many plans between us and several ideas to sort through, but considering what Rick brings to the table I’m confident whatever we decide on will be quality. I know from talking to Rick that he’s excited to get started and whatever format we decide on you’ll get 100% effort. I can’t think of a person more equipped to provide coverage and inside opinions on the hockey club and its players, I truly can’t.
This is a massive day here at LeafsHub.com and we want to thank everyone for being a part of it with us. So without further ado, could you please join us in welcoming former Captain of your Toronto Maple Leafs, #22 Rick Vaive, to LeafsHub.com.
